St. Charles (Kane County, Illinois) Chronicle, March 31, 1932.
There Should Be A Warning Sign On Elmer's House
A burglar, thought to be a local amateur, will only know from reading this story how close he came to being hit over the head with a baseball bat.

One night last week, Elmer Dykeman heard someone turning a key in the lock of the front door of his home on Prairie street. He slipped into an adjoining room and stationed himself behind the door with a baseball bat.

Being a student of mental psychology, Elmer willed the prowler to enter the door. As he waited, the cold draught set his nose to tingling and, in spite of his attempt to smother a sneeze, the result was a strangled snort that sent the prowler out the front door in two jumps.

"And I've still got a cold to prove it," adds Elmer.
