Lt. Col. W. E and A. J. Dyess

Dyess family,

while reading Ed Dyess' stirring Bataan memoir, I went to see if he was awarded a Medal of Honor for his exploits during the defense of Bataan or after. I didn't find him, but a Marine Lt. Col. Dyess, killed in action on Kwajalein in 1944.

Question 1--Were these two heros cousins?

Question 2--what were the circumstances of the fatal plane crash on 12/22/43 that killed Lt. Col. W.E. Dyess?

Thanks!
James Bridge
