Can you get your fathers SS number?If not it might work anyway...Go to the SSA local office and fill out a form: SSA-L997.This is a 3rd party request for Extract or Photocopy of that persons original SS application. Ask for the "photocopy" the extract will not contain all the information ou need. This will contain his parents names and places and dates of birth.You should have no trouble as you are a direct reative, sometimes their workers don't understand about confidential records.After a person dies the rules of confidentially dont apply.If your Grandfather worked under SS do the same for him.Let me know what you find out.A copy of the Clark Co. MS 1980 census would also help.
