Melinda ~ My G4 Grandfather, Abraham Dicus (Jacob,James, Wm.)...born AA Co., MD c.1765...mar. Margaret Mewshaw in 1784; d. 1812; bur. on son-in-law, Aaron Thornton's property in northern AA Co. (now community of Point Pleasant)...had at least 7 children: Abraham, Jr., Absolom, Lawrence, Achshah (m.Aaron Thornton), Rachel (mar. Heinrich Christhilf), Susan (mar. John Preston), Margaret (single).Sources: Christhilf Family records; "Colonial Families of AA Co., MD" by Robt. Barnes 1996; Neil Stowe's genealogical work "Descendants of William Dicus"[email protected]'s note on p9 indicates that he is unsure of Jacob's father, but has listed him as the son of Abraham's brother, Aaron. From the extant gravestone on the Thornton property Abraham died in 1812 and his wife, Margaret, died in 1814.Your Jacob was born in Feb. 1815.Guess it isn't Abraham!?Hope this helps.Regards, Nick Christhilf 410-269-5200 Annapolis, MD
