Hi John,
Thanks for your info. I don't think that there is a connection between our ancestors--although they do share the same name, as do their wives. My Johan Dyck (or Dueck)was born on December 27, 1955, the son of Johan Dyck (b. about 1825) and Aganetha Peters (b. Sept. 8, 1829). As far as I know, all four of Johan and Aganetha Dyck's children immigrated to Canada around 1874 and settled in Manitoba. I cannot seem to find out any info regarding the ancestors of Johan Dyck, b. about 1825 and died bef. Nov. 1858. At that point, Aganetha remarried Bernhard Neufeldt on Nov. 18, 1858. She died in 1866. Johan Dyck is a pretty common name and since I don't have a concrete birthdate, I'm really in the dark.
