Hi Maxine, I hope it is the same family--I'd love some info!! However, Johan Dueck/Dyck b. abt. 1825 died in Neu-Chortitza, Chortitza Colony, South Russia. It's entirely possible that his children immigrated to both the U.S. and Canada. I can't help you with anything regarding immigrating through Ellis Island because my ancestors (Johan's son, Johan, b. 15 Dec. 1855, m. Maria Falk, b. 1 May 1856) immigrated to Manitoba, Canada. I know for sure that Johan Dueck b. 1825 ? had at least four children: Aganetha, b. 10 Aug. 1852, m. Wilhelm Wiebe, Elisabeth, b. 27 Jul. 1853, m. Andreas Ham, Anna, b. 2 Nov. 1854, m. Abram Schellenberg and Johan, b. 15 Dec. 1855. Does this still sound like the same family? I know that it wasn't unusual for siblings to immigrate to different places. I believe they all immigrated around 1874-1875. Let me know if you think we're still talking about the same family!! Kathy Hildebrand
