The George Van Dyche I have died in 1904 in San Diego Ca. He was born in August 1823 according to a picture I have and was a twin brother to a Lewis Dyche. He was in the 1860 census in Los Angeles and then was in the 1870 to 1900 census in San Diego County Ca. It looks like he left Va before the 1850 census for the gold fields. He met up with a John Rains who had come from Alabama and became his overseer on one of the old Spanish Land Grants in the San Bernardino Area of Ca. then moved to the Warner Ranch area east of San Diego where he managed cattle for the same Company.
According to the Dyche Book I believe he was a descendant of George Henry Dyche, Peter Dyche he is listed as #5026 in Janette Dyche Fitch's book. Her book does not show a twin for George.

Sharon
