Dyce, Dyess. Looking for Scottish Link
I'm looking for my Dyess ancestors who came from Scotland.I can trace the Dyess family to Henry Dyess who died in Bath County, N.C. approx. 1738. I do not know anything about his birthdate or birthplace. This may be my ancestor who made the trip to America. And there is a very good chance that he did not arrive in America with the Dyess name spelled as it is. Genealogy also has him listed as Henry (Dias) Dyess. But the name Dias is of spanish descent. The family has always known it originated in Scotland. Story is that my ancestors where "run out" or fled because of political struggles. Regardless, I am looking for any information to get beyond Henry Dyess. I am looking at the Dyce name because of it's close spelling and it is Scottish. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
