My adopted mother's maiden name was Wilma Dyas, married to Ruby Shipley. She had three or four brothers that did not survive WW2. One brother did survive the war, his name is Roy Dyas. Wilma's parents lived in Blackwell, Oklamoma, due east of the old lead smelter. I do not know their names..

I was adopted by Ruby and Wilma when I was about two years old. Ruby died when I was about seven. At age nine I became a ward of the state, at this time I will not give the reason why. When I turned 18, I changed my name to Virgil Bateman, I had lived with the Bateman family for 6 years at that time.

Ruby and Wilma are also my aunt and uncle.

I have not seen or heard anything about any of my family since I was nine years old.
This is the first posting that I have seen on the internet that looks like it might have any promise of leads to my family. I just turned sixty and been having an urge to know what happend to them.

If anybody sees a possible fit here please reply.

Virgil C. Bateman
