Where did you find him listed in a census as William? He was still in his father's household in 1830. Only the head of household was listed in the census, so his name was not given. He is head of household in 1840, listed as Washington. He is listed in 1850 as George. He died in 1854.

Nellie Dyal was a descendant of George Washington Dyal (1817 - 1854) through his son Dahlonega Washington Dyal. I believe her father was Dahlonega Jr., but since this is not my line I have not documented it.

I received my book by Hasting Harrison today. There is no documentation of the ancestors of Thomas Dyal Sr. In fact he made no attempt to document the line from Isaac Malcolm Dial back to the O'Doyley. He merely states "tradition says". So we still have no documentation of that ancestry.

I have Nancy Wiley as wife of John Dyal, Jr. Kay Dyal Miller, who was a Georgia State Regent for DAR, says that Nancy is the correct wife and was the mother of George Washington Dyal. I don't have any further on that.
