Thank you for your response. Since you have documentation that your William W. Dyal was never married to Mittie Copeland, that rules out one of the errors floating around on the internet. If we could only rid ourselves now of the infamous William Washington Dyal, Jr.!! I am certain that Mittie Copeland was the second wife of my William Washington Dyal(1855 - 1924).
Mittie is listed as Mittie Dyal in the 1910 census, with children. She did not marry William Washington Dyal until 1913 and at that time her name was listed as Mittie Copeland.
Do you have any record concerning another marriage for Mittie prior to 1913?
