Doctor Michael Dwinell of Topsham, MA DID have 7 wives and the family joke is that people thought he must not have been much of a doctor, because he kept going trhough his wives like they were going out of style or something.

In 1640 (so my Great Aunt Nancie Dwinell Godwin researched) a Count Du Anell (spelling came over as a surgeon and his sons carried on the family business through many generations into Lyndonville, Vermont where there were a few generations of Fredrick Dwinell's up to and including my grandfather, although I do not know that he had a series of numbers after his name at any time. Though he was from Lyndonville, Vermont his family had some connection to Topsham, MA even in more recent times, because that is where he was living when he mariied my grandmother in the 1930's.
