MAREEN DUVALL - CATHOLIC?
Posted by: Julia Hill Date: March 06, 1999 at 11:06:29

There is an issue concerning the immigrant
Mareen Duvall that has bothered me for some
time. He is constantly referred as to being a
Huguenot (i.e. a french protestant) but he is
on record as being a member of the Jacobite
Movement in Maryland. The Jacobite's goal at
that time was to restore the VERY CATHOLIC
King James II of England back onto the throne
of England and de-throne the protestant King
William & his wife (co-ruler) Queen Mary.
Now, if Mareen were a true protestant, why
was he sympathetic to a catholic English
king?
It is a well known fact that Maryland at that
time was the only state willing to accept
Catholics.
