Hi Christine, Elizabeth who married (2) 1722 Christopher Champlin, was the widow of William Devol who was the grandson of William, the immigrant through his son Joseph. William (the grandson) died in 1719 at Westerly, Rhode Island. I believe William and Elizabeth had only one child; William, born 2 Aug 1698. He married (1) Elenor __?__; (2) Mercy Stannard. This William had six children and I feel reasonably certain that at least four, and possibly all six were from the second marriage. Incidentally, William and Elizabeth (the immigrants) are my 8th-great-grandparents. My line has used the spelling DEUEL since the late 1700's when Abraham and others went to New York. Most of the New York lines used that spelling and most of the lines that stayed in New England seem to have kept the DAVOL variation. You'll find there are about a dozen variant spellings today, most of which go back to our William. Occasionally, down through the generations, immigrants from France have arrived and they generally used the Duval/Du Valle/etc. variations. I believe the Wing Devol you asked about was married to Clarissa Hart; their children were: William, Josiah, James, Helem(male), Harrison, Emeline, and Benjamin Franklin. I have the wives for all of them, as well as many of the descendants. Are you interested in a particular line? I hope this helps. Darrell
