Mary Anne, I found a file on ancestry.com by Jenny Warden (jjwarden@aol.com) posted Aug 13 1007 called The Wheeler Carpenter Johnson Kendall families.
In this file, there is a William Henry Duvall, b . 1818, son of William Henry Duvall and Eleanor Hammond, who m. Mary Evely, b. 1825.
William Henry Duvall Sr, b. 1792, is the son of Howard Duvall, b., 1762 and wife Elizabeth.
Howard Duvall is the son of Mareen Howard Duvall, b. 1728 and Sarah Wheeler.
Mareen Howard in turn is the son of Mareen "the younger" Duvall and Elizabeth Jacob; Sarah Wheeler is the daughter of Robert Wheeler and Anne Duckett.
Unforunately, Jenny Warden's file doesn't contain note or documentation, but at least this is a good start to filling in the blanks.
Assuming that this line is correct, you are my 7th cousin twice removed. You are also the 9th cousin of Senator Barack Obama, and the 9th cousin once removed of Vice President Dick Cheney....
