Miranda Julia Duval and Col. Pierce Mason Butler (Edgefield District, SC) are my great-great grandparents. PMB bought plantation land in 1840 in Bossier Parish, Louisiana for the future sustenance of his sons, one of whom was my great-grandfather, Andrew Pickens Butler, whose two daughters intermarried with my LA McDades). PMB's sons settled on their father's Louisiana plantation after the Civil War. (Pierce Mason Butler shows up in Bossier Parish's 1840 census, however he was there a very short period before becoming an Indian Agent for the Cherokees at Fort Gibson, Arkansas/Oklahoma.) I have researched Pierce Mason Butler and his Edgefield District family for almost 20 years, however, everything that could possibly be written about the Butlers in SC has been written. I well into writing a book about PMB IN Louisiana, his sons, and PMB's Louisiana descendant... I am going to Lousiana this week to do some more Butler research; I would so appreciate any any formation anyone may have on Miranda Julia [Duval] Butler's Maryland ancestors--like, was Indian Agent Edward Washington Duval Julia's father, or was he her brother. Any information on Julia Duval's ancestors in Maryland (where she was born) will be so appreciated. Gen. Isaac H. Duval was the overseer of PMB's Louisiana plantation while Butler led the Palmetto Regiment in the Battle of Cherubusco, Mexico where he was killed. My third cousin in Shreveport was Polly Duval...)
