Has there been some recent advance in research on the origins of Marin (Mareen)DUVALL (the immigrant) of Middle Plantation? The reason I ask, is that it was my impression that Harry Wright Newman's *Mareen Duvall of Middle Plantation* (1952) remained the most authoritative work on this family, and Newman basically discounted all the earlier attempts to link our Mareen to the family Laura Cleland has attributed to him above. As a descendant of both his son Mareen "the Elder" and his son Mareen "the Younger", I would certainly welcome any information which would shed some light on the question of their father's ancestry.
I also think that Ms. Cleland has accidentally rearranged the order of Marin/Mareen's second and third wives: His second wife (and the mother of his second family of children) was Susanna (generally accepted to be the daughter of Benois Brasseur) -- his third wife and widow was Mary (Stanton?).
