I think that research should be tried in Rouen Normandy. LaVal was a speculation on
Newman's part because Mareen named a plantation "LaVal". However, an article by
a Dr. John Hood has a purported line in Normandy where the Duvalls were Lords of St.
Aubin. Unfortunately, there are no references. However, a book on the settlers
of Quebec, Canada shows that a Mareen lived
and died there at about the same time the
Mareen of Maryland was living there. The
Canadian Mareen was from St. Aubin. I have
the references on a floppy, but am having
trouble with my floppy drive. I also need to
know how to upload the data to this board.
