Joy, I am researching the Vaul family. It has been passed down that at one time it used to be Devaul or DeVaul. I have come to a stand still at Mitchell Vaul b.abt 1830 in PA. The earliest record I have of him is in the 1860 IL census. He was a printer/newspaper owner/ operater. I also found a Mitchell Vaul in the 1850 IN census who was b. abt 1810 in NY. He was also a printer so I believe he may be the younger Mitchell's father, or uncle. Mitchell (the younger one) had 3 sons, Clarence C. (who died as a child, Fremont Elwood and Arthur. Do you know of any of these names showing up in the Devaul line? Thanks, Donna
