I am a descendant of William Sesell (Cecil) of PrinceGeorges Co., MD William had three children John Cecil, Phillip Cecil and Susan Cecil. When these children were very young their mother fell ill and on her deathbed requested that William give the children into the foster care of Mareen Duvall (presumably the Elder? or the immigrant??).This request and event isa matter of formal record. John and Phillip grew up and married and raised large famillies although Phillip died relatively young. Susan on the other hand dissappears from the records. It is not known if she died very young, grew up and married as Susan Cecil, or possibly that she was raised as Mareen Duval's daughter and may be one of the Susannah Duvall's in the records. John Cecil lived in that portion of Prince Georges Co., that became Frederick County and John's son Samuel Cecil administered the small personnal estate estate of his grandfather William. Some have speculated that William Sesell's wife might herself have been a Duvall or at least a kinswoman of Mareen. Why would a landed gentleman take on three children who were not his kin? It appears that William Sesell though having some attributes of questionable character (his wife didn't trust him to raise their three children for one), could write his name and is thus presumed to be literate. This suggests that he may have come from the gentry himself. If any of the Duvall Clan has any clues to the solution of this mystery the Cecil folks would surely be interested.
