I was recently told that Fidèle Thériault stated that Catherine Duval was a Micmac (with no source). This is the first I have come across this. According to Les Familles de Caraquet Dictionnaire Généalogique by Fidèle Thériault, which includes the pioneers of the parishes of Bas-Caraquet, Bertrand, Grande-Anse, Maisonnette, Paquetville and Saint-Simon (New Brunswick), it appears that several Duval individuals came from St-Pierre, Jersey Islands (see pages 162 and 163), but I see nothing to link them to Catherine Duval. According to my data base, she was married to Mathurin Thébault (son of Jacques Thébault dit LeBlanc and Anne Melanson) about 1770. I was told she was the widow of Claude Marcel of Bathurst, New Brunswick, but do not seem to have a source. Does this ring a bell with anyone?
