while helping some russell researchers,i found in fauquier county virginia deeds 1759-1778, by john k. gott,a lease and release item in which land given by Capt. William Russell to his son, Martin, deceased, went to Martin's daughter, caty duty, wife of William Duty, of the province of north carolina. this deed was dated 30 and 31 of october, 1761. this capt. russell was the son of capt. william russell (1680-1741) prince william and fauquier counties. now that i know caty russell duty was in chatham county nc, i wonder if anybody knows of a john russell in chatham nc in 1781. he was the son of john russell of shenandoah va. another son, robert russell, went to chatham to help fight the british. elvalee swift
