I am researching the family of ADRIAEN HENDRICKSE ATEN. I came across a reference to the DUSENBERRY family in some notes on the ATEN/AUTEN'S in the Proceddings of the New Jersey Historical Society. I was wondering if any of you had ever seen this reference and thought that ADRIAEN HENDRICKSE ATEN and HENDRICK HENDRICKZEN could have been brothers? Here is the reference:
A HENDRICK HENDRICKZEN from Doesburg, Holland, who may or may not have been the brother to ADRIAEN HENDRICKSE ATEN, was m June 12, 1655 in the New Amsterdam Dutch ch, and had children Hendrick, Johannes and Grietje. The two sons became the ancestors of the Dusenberry families,(corrupted name of Doesburg).
I then also found in the church records from the Reformed Protestant Dutch Church in Flatbush New York the baptism of the daughter of ADRIAEN HENDRICKSE ATEN AND LYSBETH:
March 31, 1678 at MIDWOUD
MARYTJE parents Adriaen Hendriks and Lysbeth witnesses HENDRIK VAN DOESBURY and MARITJE VAN
I would love to hear from any of you on this subject.
