Dear Marianne,

Thanks very much for your inquiry!

I need to answer your questions in a slightly different way than asked, so bear with me.

Yes, Magdalena^3 Duryea is the daughter of Jacob^2 Duryee (not Jacobus, so please take that spelling out of your database--within the subject culture these are not at all the same name) and, yes, Jacob^2 Duryee is the son of Joost^1 DuRieux (the European spelling for his family name) and Magdalena^1 LeFevre (not Lefebre, etc.).

Jacob^2 Duryee is also the ancestor of the love-to-hate actor Dan Duryea. This is a somewhat distant relationship to you, personally, and somewhat closer to my own (he and my great grandmother were 3rd cousins), but you are more closely related to the actor than he is to the "Automobile Duryeas."

The "Automobile Duryeas" are from the same Joost^1 and Magdalena^1 family, but descend from a brother to your (and mine) Jacob^2 Duryea and Catryna Polhemus, daughter of Daniel Polhemus (namesake of the actor) and Neeltje Vanderveer. This brother was Charles^2 Duryee.

I very much need your help on the descendants of your Cornelius Wyckoff. Especially, but not exclusively, with Magdalena's second brood with Staats. I have gathered that there were only two Wyckoff offspring of this marriage and have only been able to develop more on their daughter Willemptie/Wilhelmina (etc.), who married a Terhune. So, if you can help, please contact me at duryeakin@yahoo.com.

Hoping very much to hear back from you, here or privately,

Richard
