Richard,

I am going to try again - appears that one of the messages did not post (albeit the most important one).

John Duryee (sp) lived in Millstone (or E. Millstone), NJ. He had several children - Abram Duryee, Ella Catherine Duryee, Eugene (perhaps Jacob Eugene) and at least one other son. No information on John's wife. She did live with son Abram and his wife for some time as grandson Eugene Clarke Duryee remembered his grandmother having "little strokes" at the dinner table.

No information on Eugene except for the fact that he may be buried in the East Millstone Reformed Church cemetery in E. Millstone, NJ. Ella Catherine was born about 1874 in Bergen, NJ and married Jacob Vanbuskirk Voorhis about 1895 in Bergen, NJ. They had some type of produce delivery business serving northern New Jersey and New York City. No death date on Ella but had to be some time after 1947 since there are notations in my husband's "baby book" of gifts that she sent at his birth and through several years of birthdays.

Abram was born in Millstone, NJ on August 4, 1867. Due to his father's death, he learned the printing trade to work his way through school. Abram attended Rutgers and earned degress in 1893 and 1894. He became a licensed clergy in Bergen, NJ in 1894 and ordained in New Brunswick in 1894. He was a pastor in North Hackensack from 1894-1911 and associate pastor in Bergen, Jersey City, NJ from 1911-1917. He was Secretary of the Publications Board from 1917-1935. From 1935-1937 he was acting pastor in Saugerties, NY. Abram married Margaret Powless Clarke on June 28, 1898 at the Presbyterian Church in Hackensack, NJ. Margaret Powless Clarke is a descendent of the Haring family of Tappan and whose lineage I have back to 1632. Abram died on August 19, 1936 in Tobyhanna, PA and was buried in the East Millstone Reformed Church cemetery. Margaret died on July 15, 1956 and is also buried in the East Millstone Reformed Church cemetery.

Abram had two sons - Abram Wilbur Duryee and Eugene Clarke Duryee. And, from this point on, I have much family information.

As you can see, I have many gaps surrounding John, his wife and other children. I am assuming that since Abram was born in Millstone, NJ and Ella Catherine was born in Bergen, NJ that there are family ties (John and/or his wife) to northern New Jersey.

Any information that you or other forum members may have will certainly be appreciated.

Sharon
