Dear Teresa,

After sending out my last note , I went over to my wordprocessing documents
and found the following:

Samuel Duryee: and wife Ann Kingsland had:

Peter Duryea, bp. 1 March 1801 NYNY [IGI].

probable son of Daniel Duryea, of Pequanack, Morris County, NJ, will dated
5 January 1804, proved 10 Sept. 1804. Names sons Samuel, Richard, Garret,
and Peter. Also daughters Mary Romaine; Hanky Jacobus; Jane; Catherine
Jacobus and her sons Daniel and Abraham Jacobus. Execs son Richard and
friend Yellis Mandeville. Inv. taken by Thomas Doremus and John Blawers on
11 September 1804.

Will of James Jacobus, Sr., of Morris County, NJ, dated 3 October 1793,
proved 9 December 1791, names among others a daughter Mary, wife of Richard
Duryea. Execs sons Cornelius and James Jacobus; witnesses include Isaac
Kingslan, Jr. Inv. taken on 8 July 1794 by Thomas Doremus and Philip Hiler.

First, please note the daughter "Hanky" Jacobus, of Daniel Duryea, mentioned
in Daniel's 1804 will. I believe you will find that this is your Henrietta.
Hanky is a Dutch nickname, similar to our "Hank" as a nickname for Henry.
Thus, in all probability, your Henrietta anglicized her name from Hanky.

In my text here, I have tried to show a possble link between this Hanky
Duryea Jacobus and the James Jacobus family, as per the will of James
Jacobus.

Second, it is not clear, but the text is saying that Samuel Duryea is the
son of Daniel Duryea, and Samuel's son Peter Duryea is Daniel's grandson.

Please note that several of these Duryeas took up residence in Manhattan
(New York City) and lived in the Greenwich Village area. I do not know that
any of the Jacobus children also left New Jersey for Manhattan, but it would
not surprise me.

Again, these are descendants of Jan(1) Durie and it would be well to try to
get a look-up in the Howard K. Durie book on this family.

Hoping to be of some assistance,

Richard
