Dear Jane,
Thank you for your continuing help! Your information has gone a long way towards confirming certain of my speculations on the Tunis H. Duryea family group.
In direct answer to your question about Belle Duryea, the answer is, yes. In the 1880 US Census for Accord, New York, to whence this family had removed from New York City, includes the daughter "Bell" Duryea. Her age is given in this enumeration as 21 years, thus she was evidently born circa 1859.
Emma (Watson) Duryea was buried among her Duryea in-laws in The Evergreens Cemetery, Brooklyn, Long Island, Lot #330, Greenwood Shade section. Cemetery records indicate that she was buried on 7 June 1872, aged 38 years, having died of consumption in Rochester (presumably Rochester, Ulster County, New York).
Belle Duryea had sister named Gracie Duryea. She is listed in the 1880 census as being 3 years old. I cannot tell whether Gracie was a full sister or half sister, that is, the daughter of Emma Watson, or the daughter of Tunis' subsequent wife Mary C. (____) Duryea. While the census would indicate that Gracie was born in the year following the death of Emma, I cannot be certain whether the child was old enough more than 3 that she will actually have been Emma's. You may be able to help me in that?
I would like to have your help as well with the exact birth date for Emma, place of birth, and the full names of her parents.
Again, my many thanks,
Richard
