Hi Laura,
I had not checked the message board in a long time but was very interested in your note about George's wife being Rebecca Hugh. This would explain the 1865 NY state census stating he was married twice. I would suspect that all the children except Eugene were children of Rebecca. I have no proof of this statement. I did not see any reference to a Rebecca Duryee in any of the Nunda town historian's records but she would have died before the 1850 census and there are not many records from that era.
