ANDREW DURRETT FAMILY BIBLE owned by Dr. Delbert H. Derrett of Hurst, Texas. This
Bible was published in Philadelphia by J. P. Lippincott & Co., 1848. Copied by Mrs.
Ida Lee Edmiston, 409 N. Bolton, Jacksonville, Texas, April 1971, daughter of Andrew
J. and granddaughter of Andrew. This family moved to Cherokee County in the early
1850s from Mississippi. Andrew was born in Virginia. After the death of Ellen in
1867, he married Mrs. Jane Lankford Benge, widow of John, the same year. The last
three children are from this union.

Lewis Durrett died February the 19th 1929
Note: The death date of Andrew Durrett is wrong as he is shown on the 1880 Census at
Residence #232 with Jack, age 10, and Sallie, age 8. Also, he signed a deed in 1881.
It ts believed he died in 1882. Andrew J. (Jack) and all his descendants are called
"Derrett. " (Mrs. Ogreta W. Huttash)
