Am searching for a Richard Durrett of Caroline Co and Bedford Co VA in the late 1700s.
The court records of Bedford Co. VA indicate that at his death prior to 1771, Edmund/Edward Goode leaves two orphaned sons, to be cared for by the church. The Bedford Court record indicated that Edmund Jr. and Richard were orphans when the court summoned Richard Durrett to appear at the next court of answer such things as shall be objected against him in regard to the orphans of Edmund Goode, Decd. [22 Oct 1771, Bedford Court Book 3, p. 801] At a court holden Nov. 26, 1771, it was ordered that the church wardens bind out Edmund and Richard Goode, orphans of Edmd Goode decd. according to the law. [Bedford Court Book 3, p. 805].
Later a Martha Durrett has court dealings with Edmund Goode, Jr.
I believe that Martha Durrett was the widow of Edmund Goode, Sr. and remarried Richard Durrett. They were formerly of Caroline Co. VA.
