I am new to the search for my Durrett ancestors so all help is welcome.
What I have been told is that I come from Sarah Sanford, daughter of John Sanford and Ann Durrett, who married John Pettypool. All information comes from the Pettypool side of the family and doesn't seem to fit what I have found here. I have asked the Pettypools and the Sanfords to no avail.
My questions:
1. Ann's birthdate--does anyone know?? I have found her being born anywhere from 1720 to 1746. This would be very interesting since the P'Pools have Sarah (her daughter) born c1747.
2. I have seen Robert Sanford's death as 7-23-1787 and as 1747. I have seen the court order books (for 1747) that claim Ann was squandering Robert's fortune (now the wife of John Forrest)
3. I have seen the marriage date for Ann and Robert as 1759, but according to #2 that would be after his death???
4. Robert and Ann had a son who became an orphan after Roberts death and guardianship was given to John Pettypool (husband of Sarah) in Nov. 1747.
Could my Sarah be the daughter of someone else, possibly sister to Robert who married Ann Durrett.
I would appreciate ANY suggestions, hints, or prayers!!
Will share all I know on the descendants of Sarah (Sanford) and John Pettypool.
