Janet, A piece of information from American records giving the town of your German ancestor is like gold. The GEO program lists 3 towns called Bechhofen, any of which could be the one you need; one has now been absorbed into Neuendettelsau. Two are in Bavaria proper, and one on the Pfalz, which formerly belonged to Bavaria.
