Johnson County Illinois Goddard's

Are there any "experts" on the Goddard families of 19th century Johnson County, Illinois?

My Jordan Goddard (1837-after 1910) was most likely born Johnson County February 1837. He married Rebecca Harner, daughter of Phillip Harner, in June 1854. He served Company I, 120th Illinois Infantry (Illinois civil war unit), and was buried near Bendavis, Texas County, Missouri. I have been working this line for about 15 years now, and cannot identify his parental family. There are many Goddards in Johnson county Illinois.

Jordan is not listed in the 1850 census (he should be, but isn't).

He is listed in the 1860 census as Jordan Godard.
He is not listed in the 1870 census.
He is listed in the 1880 census of Liberty, Crawford County, Missouri.
He is listed in the 1900 and 1910 censuses of Wood township, Texas County, Missouri.

All of the above with his wife Rebecca, and various of his children.

Any clues or suggestions warmly welcomed.
