Dear Heidi,
Charles A. Durkee was born 22 AUG 1833 in Rutland County, Vermont, the son of Oel B. and Harriet (Baird) Durkee.
He was married to Mary Agnes Ryan on 1 NOV 1863 (VR) in Geneva, Wisc. They had 6 children. Harriet Baird was born 25 NOV 1815 in either Mass. or Vermont. She was the daughter of John Baird and Harriet Kilburn. (his second wife. The first wife was Rebecca Pearson.)
Oel and Harriet had two children. Charles (above) and George F. Harriet died in Hebron, McHenry Co., Illiois on 6 OCT 1849 (VR). I do not think she was closely related to the Nathan Durkee-Baird family you mentioned. I do have data on that family as well if you are interested. I can provide Charles' Durkee line back to the emigrant ancestor and will be happy to correspond.
Best, Bernice Gundeson
