Dear Durkin Family,
I am writing to you from Lawrence, Kansas.
I recently moved here to attend graduate school
from a city very near Shamokin, PA - Kulpmont is
the name of my hometown, about 5 mins. south on
Rt 61. This is known as the Coal Region of PA. I
say this to establish my credibility with you and
to let you know I am truly from that area. I have
a very close friend, Robert Derk, from Shamokin who
has also been searching for his families heritage.
I can't be sure, but I think he mentioned some
transformation of the Derk name from a diferent
form, maybe similar to Durkan. This may not even
be relevant, but I thought it was worth letting
you know. His email address is rderk@webtv.net. He
will be away til Monday, 11-3-97, but I encourage
you to contact him to follow-up on this. He is
very well connected in the community and knows just
about everyone, so maybe he can help you. Good
luck in your quest!!!

Thanx,

Rich Puddy
