Just found Military records which indicate that Owen Durkin or Durkan was born in about 1833 in Sligo, Ireland. He enlisted in the US Army at Newport Kentucky in Dec. 1854 at the age of 21. Married Mildred Carter at Fort Belknap Texas in 1858 and was killed there in 1859.

Looking for his family in Ireland.
