Hello, my maiden name is Anne Durkan and I am from Belfast in Northen Ireland (i was born and raised in Derry). I may have some information for you regarding the Durkan family from Swineford, Co. Mayo. I'm not sure if this will help, but i'll give you it anyway.
My own family is originally from Swineford. My grandfather, Patrick was born on the 17th April 1881 and was the second son of Michael Durkan.
The family members were: James, Patrick, John (who later went to America), Michael, Willy, Joe (the 3 of them died as infants), Mary Ellen and Freddie (female).
The family grew up in Balla, Co.Mayo where some family members live today.
I noticed that some of the names you mentioned in your message were quite similar and so thought there may be a connection.
