Dear Suzanne,

Thanks! We can gather a few more details on the spouses and their parents from the New York Times items I had mentioned.

Mary (Atwell) Hitchcock and her first husband Francis C. E. Hitchcock had a son Center Hitchcock. Not a Durie descendant, still Center Hitchcock seems to have been close to his step father his half-siblings. He evidently married Ann Bjorck.

The first wife of William Mairs Duryea, Sr., Marjorie E. Simonds, was the daughter of William Robinson Simonds.

Of the children of William Mairs Duryea, Sr. and Mary (Atwell) (Hitchcock) Duryea, Mary Ellen Duryea's husband had the full name John Archibald McNeil Peck, the son of John Wheeler Peck. (I hadn't caught up with the Butterfield marriage.)

Wiliam Mairs Duryea, Jr.'s first wife was formally named Gretchen Billings Miller and she was the daughter of George Montagu Miller; Gretchen (Miller) Duryea's grandfather was William Halstead Vander Poel. The second wife of William Mairs Duryea, Jr. had the full name Elizabeth Lovejoy Reeves and evidently went by her middle name. She was the daughter of Rosser Reeves (her mother was a portrait painter and evidently used the name Betty-Joy Street). There was at least one more marriage for William Mairs Duryea, Jr., on 11 September 1970, to Elise Burns Bradley, the daughter of Thomas A. Bradley, Jr.

James Mairs Duryea's wife was formally named Linda Farnsworth Vander Poel and she was the daughter of Benjamin Farnsworth Vander Poel and the granddaughter of William Halstead Vander Poel. So, Linda (Vander Poel) Duryea was apparently the first cousin of Gretchen (Miller) Duryea.

There is or was a William Mairs Duryea, III.

Thanks again,

Richard
