Hi Pam
Like you I am trying to trace Scottish ancestry. I have an incomplete family tree where the name is spelled as Durey (although it may have orignally been Durie-I don't know). I am not sure where in Scotland my family may have come from-I recall my grandfather saying Dunfermline??? It is an absolute longshot that we may in some way be connected. Anyway in response to your posting my family tree has a John Thomas Durey (not written as Durie) b 14/4/1849 d16/1/1877...not sure where or of occupation. I would be grateful if you would let me know if you know anything about the Durie (Durey) name and are aware of any of the following decendents:
Charles Durey b 13/2/1813 d 3/2/1853
George Victor Durey b? married a Catherine Margaret Herrick 1900.
Goodluck with your search. Hopefully you, like I can narrow down the needle in a haystack!
