My father bought three copies of The Durie Family by Howard I. Durie and I have one of them. The original immigrant ancestor of this branch of the family was Jean Durier who was born in Utrech, Holland 12 Nov 1654. He came to the colony of New Jersey some time before 1690. Jean Durier's parents were Pierre Durier and Marguerite Charoy. His descendants adopted a variety of spellings: Durie, Duryea, Duree, DuRie, and DuRee. According to Mr. Durie's book there are samples of signatures where Jean Durier signed his name using the Dury spelling.

It would be of great interest to researchers here if there could be a positive link made from Pierre Durier and Marguerite Charoy to other ancestors.

Many of the first names on your link are names that are often repeated through my Duree family. Jean/Jeanne, Alexander, and Samuel are all ancestors in my line.
