Hi Lois,
I have census information on John P. Durham and son John Pascal Durham listed at Rootsweb:

But I can't help you with the "where" in North Carolina, John Pryor Durham came from.
I do show John Pascal Durham in the 1870s with an "Elizabeth", which is not consistent with the marriage to Alta Maria who I had listed as "Attimyra" (Census spelling). Do you know who this Elizabeth might be. I had assumed that maybe Alta Maria and Elizabeth were the same person, but it may be that I am wrong.
Any additions and corrections you can give me would be appreciated.
