Just in case you were not aware.
William F. Reed's 1902-1905 book THE DESCENDANTS OF THOMAS DURFEE OF PORTSMOUTH, RHODE ISLAND has long been the starting point for Durfee researchers, and I paid a small fortune years ago for an original copy and a reproduction copy.
But, now it's free to anyone thanks to Google's digital books project.
1) Go to www.books.google.com .
2) In the SEARCH field, key “william reed thomas durfee”. The first hit is the book in question.
3) Click on the book title link to open it. You can browse/read the book from here, or,
4) Use the DOWNLOAD link at the upper right to copy the entire volume to your hard drive. It takes a few minutes as it's over 1,000 pages.
