Our family is descended from James Durfee and Meribah, via their daughter Hannah Durfee. All we know of Meribah is that she was born in 1757 in Rhode Island, and died in 1805 in Cannonsville, NY. James left RI in 1788 for Kortright, Delaware County, NY. They stayed there for 3 years before moving on to Tompkins and later Cannonville. He sold the land in Portsmouth, RI which he had inherited from his father Job for $675 to his brother Thomas in 1810. James married a second time to Mrs. Elizabeth Cannon but they had no children. We would like more information about the Henry Sampson that Hannah is said to have married.
