Durfee Family Genealogy Forum

Our family records show Francillo born 17 May 1812 in Lincoln, Addison, Vt. He died 15 Feb 1871 in Beaver Dam, Bear River, Utah. His parents are Ebenezer Durfee (b. 24 Dec 1761 of Canterbury, Windham, Conn., lived in Lincoln, Vt., and died in Westport, Essex, NY. in 1848) and Sarah Newton. Ebenezer's father is Joseph Durfee, b. abt 1735, of Killingly, Windham, Conn., died 4 June 1794 in Cornwall, Addison, Vt., wife, Abigail Buck.
The family has long "thought" that John Durfee (ca 1705) and Mercy Foster could be Joseph's parents. They had a son Joseph baptized in 1742. Another relative thinks that our Joseph is instead the son of Thomas Durfee and Sarah Briggs, and they trace the line through Ann Almay (can't remember the Durfee she married) back to Thomas. They also have a son Joseph, but what I have seen connects him to a different wife. It may, however, be the right person, but with more than one wife. Charles Durfee claims in one of his genforum postings that there were two Thomases in the area, the one who married Sarah Briggs not being a desc. of the original Thomas--he doesn't say which line that Thomas does come from.
I have never seen anything which proves any connection between Francillo's line and Thomas. As far as I know, we are still trying to find his family past Joseph. Family tradition (from several unconnected sources)says that our ancestor (whoever he was) came to the U.S. through British Canada from Ireland when he was 16 years old. One story I have run across is that he was kidnapped and brought here. His desc. lived in the same Scituate, R.I., Windham Conn. area as the original Thomas Durfee's descendants and were here in the early 1700's.
So far, I haven't seen any satisfactory ancestory for this line.
