According to the first volume of the Durfee Genealogy, P. 29, Benjamin Durfee was the son of Thomas Durfee and his first wife whose name is unknown. He was born in 1679 in Portsmouth, R.I.. He married in 1699 Prudence Earle who was born in 1681 at Portsmouth and died in Tiverton, R.I. on March 12, 1733. They had the following children:
1. James born Jan. 17, 1701 and died in 1729, left no issue.
2. Ann born Jan. 7, 1705.
3. Hope, born Jan 7, 1705.
4. William born Dec. 7, 1707; died Mar. 26, 1766.
William was unmarried.
5. Benjamin born Jan. 5, 1709.
6. Mercy born Jan. 30, 1711
7. Lusanna born Jan 28, 1713
8. Martha born July 13, 1719
9. Thomas born Nov. 9, 1721
10. Richard born Nov. 9, 1723
