Skipwith Durbin b.c 1766 d. c 1814 in La.
Dear Durbin cousins, Has anyone seen any information about a Skipwith Durbin? He is the ancestor of most of the South Louisiana Durbins in the Livingston, Tangipahoa & St. Helena Parishes area and the Durbins in the Winn parish area. His probate was done in 1814 in old St. Helena Parish (now part of Livingston Parish). Later, his children sold the land. In this document all the children and their spouses are named. He is supposed to have married Mary ? The only clue I've found is a Lincecum family tree that names a Skipwith Durbin who married a "Dolly" Lincecum. The birth years are the same. They lived in Georgia at that time according to a Lincecum family member. They don't know what happened to them. Could it be they moved to La.?
The children of Skipwith and Mary were: James b.1793 m.Keziah Traylor(moved to Winn Parish area); Jeremiah b.1795 m.Jeanie Headen; Skipwith Jr.b.1796 m.Ann Headen ; Mary b.c1798 m. William David Gaines; Ekizabeth b. c 1800 m. John M. Eagen ;Levinia b.c1802 m.James Morgan; and William b.c 1804 m.Rebecca Richardson. Thanks, Bev
