Reference book by Tatsch, pub. 1938, "John James Joseph Gourgas, 1777-1865" page 59 Durant genealogy (Henry, Paul, Charles Louis and Bernardina). Page 38 and 47 pictures of all four. Some of these pictures are in the National Heritage Museum in Massachusetts. PAGE 4 excerpts "Jean Gourgas II ... married ... Bernardina Durant (b. 1661) of Esquivives, who was his junior by twenty years. Bernardina was a heroic woman of Huguenot ancestry. (skip .... ) Their [Durant] ancestry can be traced beyond 1600, but of more immediate interest to us is the Rev Paul Durant of Lunel, France, pastor of the Reformed Church at Gallargues, (skip ...) In 1614 [Paul] married Susanne d'Engarras by whom he had two sons (rev. Henry (d. 1725)and Lt. Col. Charles Louis (d. 1746). Charles saved the life of the son of King Victor Amadeus II of Sardinia (1666 - 1732). Paul's second marriage was to Louisa Ducros. See the book for a bit more info.
