Parthenia Durant who married Joseph Sutton & John Stevens

I'm trying to ascertain if the John Stevens who married Parthenia Durant Sutton in Perquimans Co., NC in 1725/26 is the same John Stephens who died in 1782 in Jones Co., NC with a wife named Elizabeth. Several people say he is, but I'm not convinced. Does anyone have information on when and where Parthenia died?
