1CHARLES DURANT, born in 1780, was 1/2 Choctaw and 1/2 French. He signed the treaty of 1820 as a captain. Half Choctaw. In 1831 he lived on Bullockchasa Creek, on teh right east side of Big Black River in LeFlore's District ( Choctaw Nation East). In that year he was shown on the census as having a household of six persons. He attempted to register as a pemanent resident of Mississippi in 1831, stating that he hadtwo children over the age of ten years, and three children under the age of ten years. By the treaty of 1830 he was granted a land reserve ( beause he was married to a woman of the Chocatw Nation). IN the 1840 census he was listed as an indian, although he, himself, was not actually the holder of any Indian blood. He moved west to the Indian territory in 1845 with ten persons in his household. He was married to YENENTAHUMA, and was the father of TAYLOR DURANT, who was born in 1836.
