Hello there. I'm hoping someone might be able to help me solve a little riddle. I know that my great great grandmother, Mary Ann Curline is buried with her mother in the Northern Cemetery of Dunedin, New Zealand. Her mother's name is given as Ann Sophia Curline. I know that Mary Ann's brother was James Luke Durant Curline. Their parents are James Luke Curline and Ann Sophia of London, England. I've found no other siblings, even though Mary Ann was born ten years later than later than her brother (both born in London also). But I've found a Sophia Ann Durand who married James Luke Curline, born in 1804 to Thomas Durand and Catherine Beacher. Her siblings are Sarah (1807), Benson (1809), Jane (1811), Charlotte (1815) and Thomas (1819). James Luke Durant Curline is said to have the Durant as a middle name from his mother's maiden name. Throughout both the Curline and Hudson families (Mary Ann Curline married Richard Hudson) the Durant name is still commonly used as a middle name. Is it likely that the Durant should be Durand, or is it just as likely that it is coincidence that a Sophia Ann Durand should be married to a James Luke Curline (and somewhere else exists a marriage for a different James Luke Curline and Ann Sophia Durant)? If anyone can help with this, I'd be most appreciative. Thank you! Nick Hudson Notify Administrator about this message?
